United States Families: George Vance Family (1919)

Figure 1.--This is the George Vance family with the family pooch. They look to be a prosperous middle-class family. We see Mr. Vance with his wife and son. We do not know the boy's name. They lived in Long Beach, California. Notice the palm trees. The snapshot was taken in 1919. As it is Califonia, we are not sure about the season. Father wears a single-breasted suit. Mother's blouse and long skirt were very common at the time. The boy looks to be about 13 years old. He wears a suit and tie. The suit is a norfolk knickers suit worn with long stockings. Black long stockings were very common at the time. These seem to ba a color to match the suit. We would guess brown. Knickers were virtually univerasl for American boys in the 1910s.
