A Simplicity offered patterns for youngr boys' suits, both short and long pants options. Simplicity does not date their packets, presumably so customers never think they are out of date. Each packet has, however, a number. And collectors can date the packets based on these numbers. So this packet (No. 5854) can be bated to 1964. Short pants suits were decling in popularity during he 1960s, but still fairly common for youngr boys. The jacket was done in the Eton style which were esier to nsew than lapel jackets. The pattern packet we note for 6 years olds, but we do not know the age range. The collector tells us, "I bought this pattern from an antique mall (only 1 buck) with the intentions of making PB that shorts and suit jacket look, but he was more of a t-shirt kinda kid. Not one looking to go on a job interview while in kindergarten."
