Scottish School Uniform: Individual Schools--Unknown Schools

Figure 1.--A HBC reader has provided this school photograph. Here we see a typical primary classroom scene at a boy's school. This means that it was a private school. We think it is Scottish because the boys wear red knee socks. Only a few schools had uniforms with red knee socks as the standard everyday uniform. Other schools used red knee socks for sports or one school had them for sunday servive. But only two schools had them for everyday wear. Both the schools are in Scotland. We believe this school is the Daniel Stewart Academy in Edunburgh because the boys wear grey shorts. The other school has navy blue shorts. The photograph looks to have been taken in the 2000s. We are nor sure why the senior boy is in the junior school classroom and wearing their uniform.

Unfortunately many school inages HBC-SU has found are are not identified so we are unable to our alphaberical section listing schools. We have found some images from Scotland or we believe to be from Scotland that we can not identify. It is usually possible to estimate the dates of school portraits. Identifying the specific schools is much more difficult. Hopefully our Scottish readers will help identify the schools. It is of course useful to have the names of the schools so we can add the history of the schools into our assessment.
