Here we have a white-border portrait of an unidenified boy with no accompanying information. It looks to be a make-shift studio. We would guess that it was taken in the 1920s. As to just what counry he is from is unclear. It is clearly European. A British reader writes, "Looks German to me. His cap looks military style and he looks German." We would guess somewhere in the Balkans, perhaps Yugosavia or elsewhere in the Balkans. The Balkans was stil very traditional in he 1920s. Most people lived in rural villages and made their lives with agriculture. Many people in rural areas still wore traditional clothing. This was only beginning to change. Western clothing was worn in the cities and towns and was beginning to spread out into the rural areas. The city boy here wears a flat caps with short pants--very long shot pants. Then there are ankel socks and strap shoes. He looks to be about 10 years old. It is posible to make some country assessment of traditional clothing. It is next to impossible to identify he country when they are wearing western dress.
