Cuckoo Patrol - (1965)

Mark Lester

(The) Cure - (United States, 1995)

A boyhood buddy movie which received very poor reviews. It is about two boys, one with AIDs. Dexter, the boy with AIDs (Joseph Mazzello), if briefed by a lonely boy, Erik (Brad Renfro). Brad wears the long baggy shorts now common. Here we see Dexter wearing a dtriped "T"-shirt, another popular item.

(The) Cure for Love - (England, 1950)

British actor Robert Donat was a film star appearing in many important post-World War II films in the 1950s. "The Cure fir Love" was his only attempt to direct one of his films. He mist not not have liked directing as he never attempted another one. The film is based on a popular stage play by Walter Greenwood. Donat plays the main character, Jack, an army sergeant who returns home on leave. Jack has fallen in love and hopes that the girl proposed to before leaving home has forgotten his proposal. Of course as this is the main line of the film, she has not. The main gag line of the film is that a war hero like Jack is afraid of the young ladies he has become entangled with. The film is set in Lancashire and some of the dialog is a bit difficult for Ameicans to understand.

Curly (United States, 1947)

"Curly" is a not very original film about a mischievous boy and his friends. The film is set largely in school where they torment their teachers. This is a Hal Roach production. Roach bt this time had sold the rights to his "Our Gang" ("The Little Rascals"). So Roach set about to create a new, updated Our Gang. The new name was "Curley and his Gang". This was not one of the low-budget Our Gang films, but a feature-length films shot in Cinecolor. "Curly" was his first attempt to reestablish this new Our Gang. It was not, however, a very original effort. He simply rewrote and expanded the 1930 "Our Gang" short--"Teacher's Pet." (Jackie Cooper and June Marlowe stared in the original.) The film is shot around the fact that Curly (Larry Olsen) and his friends are upset because the teacher they really liked married and left town. This rather dates the film because by 1947, teachers no longer had to retire when they married. They are concerned who will replacement her. Curley makes a bog mistake. He eroniously concludes the sowerpus aunt (Kathleen Howard) of the actual replacement (Frances Rafferty) will be their new teacher. So curly and the other kids plot how to get rid of her. But then the new teacher turns out not only to be very nice, but young and pretty as we.

Curly Top (United States, 1935)

This beloved Shirley Temple vehicle had perhaps the most destinctive leading credits of all her movies. Her trade-mark curls begin flashing on screen before we see her smiling face. The plot is loosely premised on the the Jane Webster story "Daddy Long Legs" which was a Broadway hit in the 1910s ahd fimed in 1931 with Janet Gaynor and Warner Baxter. "Curly Top" is perhaps the most popular movie Shirley made. The movie has a Dicksonian beginning. It opens on a dark, stormy evening at the Lakeside Orphanage. A group of pefectly behaved little girls, Shirley (Elizabeth Blair) march upstairs in perfect order. The girls wear bib-front overalls. We are not sure about the costuming. I don't think American orphanages outfitted the girls in overalls. The well-to-do bachelor Edward Morgan (John Boles) becomes enchanted with curly-haired orphan, Elizabeth Blair. Elizabeth has an older sister, Mary. Morgan arranges to adopt both using the alias "Mr. Jones." As spends his time with them, he falls in love with Mary. Shirley also made 'The Littlest Rebel' in 1935. They were two of the most popular films of the year. One of the film’s musical numbers was 'Animal Crackers in My Soup', one of Shirley's best loved numbers.

Curse of the Werewolf - (US, 1961)

Set in 19th century Spain, a young boy is destined to kill even those he loves. Little Leon is pictured as a boy of about 10 or 11 years. He does not wear any interesting costumes. He does appear in a nightgown.

Cutter's Trail - (US, 1969)

A town is intimidated by outlaws. A little Mexican boy has a small part, but there is no interesting costuming.

Cujo - (US, 1983)

A rabid dog terrorizes a family that has moved to Maine to seek a happier life. A Stephen King terror film, but includes a nice boy.

Cyrano de Bergerac - (France, 1990)

French language film depicting the classic tale. I just saw the beginning of the film in which a boy about 10 features prominently. He has long hair and wears a period lace collar. He is impressed with Cyrano and retrieves his hat.
