Tudor Rose / Nine Days a Queen (England, 1936)

Figure 1.--Here is Desmond Tester playing the role of King Edward VI in the costume drama 'Tudor Rose' (1936). We would not have recognized him without the credits.

English child star Desmond Tester played the role of King Edward VI in 'Tudor Rose' (1936). The American title was 'Nine Days a Queen'. The costuming was Tudor outfits. We are not sure just how accurate the costuming was. We would not have recognized him without the credits. tells us, "Its the costumnes. As well as being an excellent child actor. His voice was a give away." He died a horrible death from an illness. Edward is often glossed over with the larger personalities of the other Tudors. But Edward was raised along with his half-sister Elizabeth a Protestant and it was during his reign that England became Protestant. A development his older sister Mary was unable to reverse.
