We have a photograph of the students at Hexham School arriving at school on a snowy day. It was probably taken in the 1960s. Hexham is in Northumberland meaning the far nort of England. Here therev is a little more snow than warmer southrrn England. But England does not geteaklly heavy snows even in the north, despite its northrn lsttitude. We see a lot of childrern after World War wearinng duffle coats, a popular winter style. .
