We have found an Ender portrait dated 1837, but without any identification of the two boys. They are presumably Austrian. Google image reserach returned an incorrect reference. They look to be about 7-14 years old. The younger boy has a large ruffled collar, larger than we often see in the 1830s. It looks like the Fauntleroy collars that would appear decades later (1880s). There are matching, but smaller wrist ruffs. This may be a bloue, but wWe are not sure if they were part of a blouse or rather pin on items. But we are not sure. He has a light blue top of some kind, but we are not sure what kind of garment it was. He has high-waisted long pants. They were normally button-on pants in the early-19th century, but we do not see any buttons. It is almost as if the pants waistband was elastisced, but elastic did not yet exist. Could there be inside buttons? It is not clear hw his pants were held up. The child looks rather girlish, perhaps because of the hair, but girls did not wear pants in the 19th century. The musket he is holding further confirms that he is a boy. His older brother has an open Shiller collar, yellow vest, and long pants. There seems to be some kind of leather item on the rock by the older boy, perhaps a book bag. Rhe boys probanly had naturally curly hair. We do not hink the older boy would have had his hair curled.
