All that we know about the photograph here is that the boys are wearing Highland kilts with sporans and Balmoral caps. The boys seem to be wearing some kind of bowtie with their white shirts. We have no idea what the girls are wearing, other than pinafores. The elasborate hats are very destinctive. We know nothing about the, nut they seem more Welsh than Scottish to us. The photograph looks to have been taken in the early 20th century, some time before World War I. We are not sure just what the group here is. Perhaps they are dancers, but the girls' outfits don't look like dancing costumes. Note the boys seem to be holding some kind of booklet or mounted certificate. The girls do not have these certificates. We are not entirely sure that the phtograph was taken in Scotland. We note that the photograph was being sols in Wales. Did Welsh boys wear Highland kilts as part of their Celtic heritage. Are the girls wearing some kind of lsh folkcostumes. Perhaps our British readers will know more.
