Figure 1.--These are two children kept at Evian for extended care. TheARC caption read, "These little children have been kept much longer than usual to give them a chance to recover from their cruel experience within the German lines."

The Americn Red Cross hospital at Evian provided short sanatorium-like experiences for French refugee children that were in delicate conditions. Those children that were found to be in particularly poor condition were kept fot for longer stays. The children here are a good example (figure 1).
