An unidentified online catalog offered navy blue school short pants in 2010. Since the 1960s, white shirts and blue shorts were a standard at many primay schools. Thus they are commonly featured in maul order catalogs. Many Japanese primary schools do not have uniforms, but about a third do. Navy blue was the most popular color for short pants. There were other colors, but blue was the most common color schools chose for their uniform shorts and skirts. These shorts have strongly elaticized waists with large belt loops. vThe belt loops for some reason seem excepptionallywide. Younger boys might have suspender shorts, but these shorts were made with belt loops. There appears to be one back right pocket. Almost always the schools close white shirts to go with these shorts. They also tended to chose white blouses and matching navy blue skirts for the girls. The shorts were done in sizes 110-140 cm (43-55 inches). We are not entirely sure what they are measuring, but it seems to be the European system of providing the height oif the child. A reader writes, "I have seen similar sizing in Europe for children's clothes that shows the height of the child. I think this works the same way. Here is a link to a British Clothing conversation chart. You will see sizes 110 cm corresponds to six 6 US and 140 cm to size 10 which would equate to elementary school children.
