Wards has oprovided us a useful inside view of the knickers whoch gives us useful information on garment construction. Wards explains, "Below Is an Illustration of Our Double Seat and Double Knee Knickerbockers. Turned Inside Out to Show How the Double Thickness of the material Adds Strength and Life to the Suit." Note the double reinforcement of this suit at places of greatest wear illustrates the point that boys often wore suits to school and would sometimes continue to wear them for sports and play after school had let out. Wards is trying to appeal to mothers who knew their sons would be playing baseball or football in the same knickers that they wore in the classroom.
