American Mail Order Catalogs with Boys Clothings: 1979

American mail order catalogs offer a very useful time line on changing fashion trends. T-shirts and jeans were very popular. More boys were wearing short pants. Camp shorts were popular. Sears offered Underoos in sizes up to 16 years. Underoos was underweae in traditional styles, but as costume characters. Sneakers were very popular.

Penny's Camp Shorts

Cap shorts continued popular in the 1979s. JC Penny offered Camp shorts in sizes 8-20. Blue was the most popular coloe.

Hosiery


Underwear

White underwear in traditionasl styles, mostly "T"-shirts and Y-fronts were the msajor styles for boys. Sears offered Underoos in sizes up to 16 years. Underoos was underwear in traditional styles, but as costume characters such as Superman and Batman. There were also girls underoos, but I don't think they were nearly as popular as they were with boys. This was a break from the all white underwear.
