Here we have an undated school portrait of the Caldicott Preparatory School. The portrait is undated, but we believe was taken in the late-1950s. Prep school bys commonly wore ties. Some schools has summer uniforms which did not require ties. The boys here wear the summer uniform which is a suit jacket, shit with oepn collars, short pants, and school sandals without socks. School sandals in Britain were closed-toe t-strap sandals. also commonly wore during the summer nefore sneakers becme popular. School sandas worn without socks was common during thesummer in Britain at the time. One boy out of the picture here wore long pants. We are guessing that he is the heed boy. Click on the image to see that part of the portrait. The shorts were not only for the summr. Th open collas and sandals without socks were the concession to the warmer weather.
