Rompers were common in Kindergarten, but most boys switched to short pants when they began primary school. One boy wears a smock. Smocks will still common at French schools in the 950s, but this varied from school to school. Some schools rquired smck. Others like SMG did not. In this case it was mother's idea.

The Collège Saint Llouis de Gonzague school was named after Louis de Gonzague (1568–91), an Italian Jesuit student who died working as a pestilters meaning people working to care for people contracting diseases, in this case the plague (1591). He was 23 years old. He was recognised by the Church (1726). He is today the patron saint of Catholic youth and people living with AIDS. The school crest is based on the coat of arms of the Gonzaga family. The School is alsl known as SLG and Franklin because it is located Benjamin-Franklin Street. It is is a private Catholic school operating under an association contract with the the French Government. The School was Founded (1894). It is operated by the Jesuits. In Europe college is commonly used for schools which have both primary and secondary programs. The School today provides Kindergarten through university to preparatory classes. The school is divided into small college (école primaire/primary school) grand collège (college, high school and preparatory classes). Each has a separate site. The School has an impressive academic record with students regularly achieving some of the best baccalaureate results.
