A reader mentions the Seminário Imaculada Conceição (Immaculate Conception Seminary) in Paranavaí, Paraná. It was a minor seminary of the Carmelite friars. A 1968 shows the seminarists. These are boys beginning their training to be priests. We were a little surprised to see only one boy of obviously African heritage. We are not sure if that reflects the school's selection process or if there was little intertest among black Brazilians to be priests. These photographs were taken several decades ago. Perhaps attitudes have changed in recent years. We can see that they don't wear uniforms and quite all wear flip flops. Click on the image to see a 1964 photograph of the seminarist playing soccer.
Careful, clicking on these will exit you from the Boys' Historical Clothing web site, but several are highly recommended
