U.S. School Clothes: Cordoba School, 1925


Figure 1.--This photograph was taken at the Cordova School, I think in Cordova, North Carolina. The photograph was probably taken in 1925. The school looks to be a substantial brick building, but there are only about 30 children in the portrait. Nearly all the boys wear overalls.

This photograph was taken at the Cordova School, I think in Cordova, North Carolina. The photograph was probably taken in 1925. The school looks to be a substantial brick building, but there are only about 30 children in the portrait. I am not positive this is all the childen. Nearly all the boys wear overalls. The boy in the front row in the vest (named Marshall) has something odd about the hem of his short pants. Could they be above-the-knee knickers? In these class pictures where almost every boy is in overalls it seems that there's always a slightly-better-dressed boy whose mom thinks her son is too good for overalls.
