Individual U.S. School: Jefferson School (San Francico, California)

Jefferson School
Figure 1.-- The sign in the background although we can not see it all suggests that this was the Jefferson School. The phiotograph was taken in 1928. The stidio was apparently the Fancy Thompson Studio in San Francisco. We are not sure what kind of school it was, but it seems to be a high school. We note the students that are older teenagers. The children here are younger. High schools begin with the 9th Grade, meaning students about 14 years old. The school might have included even younger students. These students nay be the 9th graders. The boys mostly wear ties, but only a few sear suits. We see wear knickers and knee socks, at least the boys in the front row. The girls wear a variety of dresses. There is today a Jefferson High School in Dale City, just outside San Francisco.
