Trinity Hall was an Episcopalian school It was founded by devout Episcopalian William Wrenshaw Smith..
Smith worked with John Barrett Kerfoot, Bishop of Pittsburgh, to build a boys' school pursuing the academic program pf noted priest-educator William Augustus Muhlenberg.
【Bradshaw】 The idea was to make "... the school was to be like a large family with a priest as rector serving as father-figure in loco parentis." The school was opened (1870) and operated through (1906). Many prominent local families like the Heinz, Carnegie, Kammerer, and LeMoyne enrolled their boys. Including the grandson of President Grant. Trinity Hall like many private schools at the time adopted the philosophy of Muscular Christianity. Appaently, Trinity was not a full military school, but it had a
'military department'. There was also generic Protestant Christian teaching. The school is now Trinity High School, a public school.
Bradshaw, Gideon. "Hall of Honor: Local historian retraces Trinity Hall's history," Observer-Reporter (April 28, 2020).
