The Uluzzian Culture is one ofthe earliest appearances of modern man (Homo sapiens) in Europe, namely the Italian Peninsula and the Balkans. The Uluzzians provides the transition from the Middle Paleolithic to the Upper Paleolithic. Evidence of the Uluzzian Culture has been found primarily in Italy, but also the Balkans, including Greece. It is not clear to us why Italy was so dominant. It could be primarily the migratory routes of thevpeople involved. And far removed from the people involved, it is virtually impossible to determine their decision making. Not only are the finds mostly are it Italy, but they are mostly coastal sites. Also important is that Greece is the primary location in the Balkans. The only other site is Bosnia. This rather suggests that there may be sites between north and south of Bosnia that have just not been discovered.
